OrbitalATK-5 was conducted by Orbital ATK's Enhanced Cygnus, with the Service Module built at their facility in Dulles, Virginia, and the PCM (Pressurized Cargo Module) built by Thales Athena. The OA-5 Cygnus was launched into low earth orbit (LEO) and used its on-board propulsion to dock to the International Space Station for a cargo resupply mission under the Commercial Resupply Services contract for NASA. This flight marked the first Antares launch in nearly 2 years, and the return to flight of Antares with the new RD-181 engines. The launch vehicle performed flawlessly, along with the repaired launch complex and the OrbitalATK Castor 30XL solid upper stage. The launch was conducted with Antares flying in the 230 configuration.
